Camping | The little place is on the shore of a quiet lake in Hälsingland. Long summer nights and abundant winters. Nature. Silence. A little place where life gets a lot of space.

"Our idea with Sagaliden is to bring together people with different cultures and life experiences in a little space. A quiet aesthetic place, close to nature, for privacy but also inviting new encounters, knowledge and culture if you wish... "

The place & the environment
The site is beautifully situated by the lake Storsjön, surrounded by forest with walking and hiking trails. Our hundred meter long sandy beach along the lake invites you to swim. Storsjön is known for its very fine water due to the large inflow and outflow, through Vadeån from the heights of Hassela via Sindra and Harmångersån to the sea in the east. The stream flows down from the mountains through the site and into the lake under the bridge.

On the plot there are crops and plantings, a kitchen garden with crops, flowers and plants for self-sufficiency, as well as a greenhouse for seedlings and kitchen plants. In a chicken coop, the chickens are free to roam. Free-growing meadows with different flowers have been planted to increase diversity.

Recycling stations are available for guests, as well as compost and food recycling.

Sustainability permeates our site where our main building, , which was completed in 2020, is designed and built according to guidelines in ecological construction. This applies to everything from building materials to toilet systems. The building's heating system converts kitchen waste into floor heating. In the hall there is a blast furnace that functions as a tiled stove and can be used to heat the whole house if necessary. The walls of the house are insulated using only wood and air, known as Isotimber. The facade of the house is made of heat-treated wood, locally produced in Forsa outside Hudiksvall. The two side facades of the front are made of clay from Gränsfors, mixed with locally produced straw, manure and sand.

The roof consists of living plants, called Sedum, with a carpet of plants and moss on top of a waterproofing layer. It varies in color and flowering, and attracts insects.

The modern buildings have their own sewage treatment plant, which is cleaned with UV light. The service building has modern waterless toilets with tanks whose contents sit on top of a layer of gravel, mulch and wood chips, where urine is passed through and exhaust air makes it odorless. Worms attached to the soil underneath break down the feces, which is then composted and reused as soil.

Sagaliden. a small place owned and operated by Gårdar i Nordanstig AB, which also organizes courses in blacksmithing in collaboration with the family business Gränsfors Bruk.

At Sagaliden you can stay one night or longer, simple or more cozy, with nature, the lake and the forest close by. We offer accommodation in a small-scale & ecologically inspired beautiful environment in the middle of Hälsingland.
